A tragic incident occurred when a tourist, reportedly posing for sunrise pictures, fell 250ft into the crater of an active volcano in Indonesia.
The victim, a 31-year-old Chinese national named Huang Lihong, fell into the Ijen Crater in Banyuwangi, Indonesia, on April 20, according to local media reports.
The tourist reportedly fell into an active volcano while posing for a picture in the sunshine.
The victim, Lihong, and her husband, Zhang Yong, had climbed the slope with a local guide to watch the dramatic sunrise from the volcano's rim.
The tragic accident occurred while Lihong was posing for a picture.
Unfortunately, Lihong's skirt got caught, causing her to stumble and tumble backward over the edge into the crater.
The consequence left Lihong to die in tragic accident.
The photograph released after her fall shows Lihong posing on what appears to be the rim of the volcano.
This tragic picture shows clouds of steam and sulfur gas rising behind her.
It took rescuers more than two hours to retrieve her body from the mouth of the volcano, where she had fallen 250ft.
After the incident, the author warned tourists about the dangers of Mount Lijen.
Dwi Putro Sugiarto, the head of the Department of Conservation for the Banyuwangi region, stated that the incident was an accident and urged tourists to always prioritize safety while scaling Mount Ijen.
Lihong's body will reportedly be transported to Bali before being flown back to China.
This is the first time tourists have faced the dangers of volcanoes.
