Tourist Amber Shelby from Texas booked a hotel room in New York hoping for a beautiful view but discovered it was just a painting.

The beautiful scene described on the website turned out to be just a picture of the skyline

A tourist named Amber Shelby from Texas shared her unfortunate experience of booking a hotel room in New York with a promised stunning view of the city, only to discover that she had been completely deceived.

Amber, along with her husband and two children, had planned a last-minute trip to New York and decided to book a hotel room that boasted a breathtaking view of the iconic Manhattan skyline.

However, upon checking into the Fairfield Inn Staten Island, they were shocked to find out that the beautiful scenery they were looking forward to was nothing more than a picture of the skyline printed onto their window shades.

The promised stunning view turned out to be a disappointment when the window shade was lifted

Amber captured her disappointment in a TikTok video, which quickly gained over 680,000 views.

She compared the picture-perfect view depicted on the hotel's website to the actual room they were given, lifting the window shade to reveal the disappointing reality.

Instead of the magnificent skyline, they were faced with a view of the hotel carpark and a glimpse of a park across the road.

In her follow-up video, Amber showed several photos from the hotel's website, all featuring the same angle of the waterfront and skyline.

She revealed that the hotel was located on Staten Island, which turned out to be farther from the city than they had anticipated.

Despite the misleading view, Amber clarified that she had no complaints about the hotel itself, except for its location

The woman claimed that although she generally made hotel reservations when they went on vacation, she delegated that responsibility to her partner this time, so he might not have remembered certain specifics like the hotel's Staten Island location and view.

"No complaints about the hotel. It was just too far for my liking from the city," she said.

TikTok users found the booking mistake hilarious, questioning why they chose Staten Island and prompting Amber to admit they underestimated the distance.

Why didn't they just Google the hotel?! One person commented.

You'd have been floating on the water to get views like that lol, the second replied.

They have only themselves to blame, a simple search on Google satellite and Streetview shows it's in the middle of the island and not near the coast or river, another wrote.

First mistake was booking a hotel in Staten Island! Someone insisted.

Last year, another traveler named Miriam experienced a similar situation. She booked a budget hotel in Queenstown, New Zealand, expecting scenic views, but was surprised to discover that the view was actually a live TV stream from a camera on the hotel's roof.
