One person said: I thought NY was dirty, loud, and smelly when I visited in the late eighties. The people were rude and brusque. I wrote it off as "it is what it is" but wouldn't go back for a return visit.

A second wrote: The rest of my USA trip was fantastic, especially the people and places in the southern states.

While a third commented: NY is just like the movies. You just have to pick the correct movie. "Escape from New York" is the most realistic.

Another said: It is gross. And sad. Unless you have $ millions - it is a joke and people who raise their kids there?

A close relative who lives in NYC says you're living in filth if you are there now. Another added.
