Mary Trump warns the United States that her uncle may seek to remain in power indefinitely as president for life.
Psychologist and niece of Donald Trump shares a dire warning about his potential long-term ambitions in power.
Mary Trump, psychologist and vocal critic of her uncle Donald Trump, warns again of a serious threat to American democracy.
In a recent interview with ‘The Telegraph’, Mary Trump expressed serious concern that Donald Trump may try to stay in power indefinitely.
She warned this could lead to a dangerous erosion of constitutional norms.

Psychologist fears Trump may reject term limits
Mary Trump, author of the 2020 bestseller ‘Too Much and Never Enough’, has been a consistent critic of her uncle’s leadership.
Her latest warning centers around Trump’s possible refusal to step down after his second term.
She emphasized her fear is not just about him running again, but about refusing to ever leave the presidency.
“It’s not about whether he’ll run, it’s about whether he’ll leave,” Mary said, warning he may declare himself president for life and challenge anyone to remove him.
Trump hints at ‘loopholes’ in presidential term limits
While the 22nd Amendment clearly limits U.S. presidents to two terms, Donald Trump has previously hinted at the idea of remaining in power beyond those limits.
Earlier this year, he cryptically mentioned “loopholes” that might let him stay president longer. However, he also said, “I don’t believe in loopholes,” creating ambiguity.

Mary said: “That’s what Donald certainly has in mind. It’s not about whether or not he’ll run. It’s about whether or not he’ll leave.
It’s more likely that he’ll just say, ‘I’m president for life and I’m not going anywhere’. And he’ll challenge people to get rid of him.
“What enforcement mechanism is there to drag the guy who just lost the election but is in the Oval Office?
How do you get rid of him? We don’t know, because we’ve never had this problem. I think he’s willing to challenge that.”
Mary Trump warns of uniquely dangerous times.
Mary described the current political climate in America as “uniquely dangerous times,” especially given Trump’s return to the White House.

She urged Americans to rethink political engagement and actively protect democratic institutions amid growing threats.
She added: “America is a deeply broken country and it has been for a long time. Donald is not an anomaly. He is, I think, the logical conclusion to the last 40 years of Republican degradation.”
“We need to start showing up in different ways from what we might be used to,” she urged.
This call implies that traditional political strategies may not be enough to combat the unprecedented challenges posed by another Trump presidency.
Democrats are accused of failing to prepare properly
Mary Trump sharply criticized Democrats for failing to anticipate a second Trump term and not doing enough to stop it.
She said their lack of preparedness, coupled with a broader misunderstanding of public sentiment, played into Trump’s resurgence.

“The Democrats continue to not just fail to meet the moment, they fail to understand the moment… And one of my biggest criticisms of the Biden administration is that they didn’t see a second Trump term coming and they failed to prepare adequately.” she said.
“Part of it was complacency, part of it was just a failure of understanding where people in this country were.
Part of it was honestly just failing to recognise what was happening globally.
“Incumbents in every single country, regardless of political affiliation, were losing by massive margins.”
