A woman dining at a steakhouse made a shocking discovery when she noticed things moving in her food, leaving her horrified and alarmed.
An Australian woman recently experienced a shocking incident while dining at a steakhouse.
While enjoying a meal with her family, she discovered live maggots wriggling inside her steak.
This unsettling find has raised concerns about food safety and hygiene in restaurants.
The woman enjoyed a meal with her family.
On November 10, the woman visited Lone Star Rib House in Penrith, where she and her family were excited to enjoy a nice meal together.
The restaurant is known for its steaks, which can cost up to $42 depending on the choice.
The woman expected a delicious dish, but what she found was far from appetizing.
Woman left cringing after spotting gross things in her steak at restaurant
As her meal arrived, she noticed something unusual about her steak.
At first, she thought it might be a seasoning, but upon closer inspection, she realized the truth, there were moving maggots on her plate.
Disturbed by the sight, she shared her experience.
She said, “I sort of zoomed in, looking at the piece of steak and thought, ‘That’s really odd, things are moving.’”
Her husband initially thought the same, but as they examined it further, they confirmed the presence of maggots.
This discovery ruined their dining experience and left them feeling uneasy.
The woman reported the maggots to the staff.
Concerned about what they found, the woman immediately brought the issue to the attention of the restaurant staff.
However, instead of addressing her concerns, the staff pointed out that the restaurant had an optimal food and health safety rating.
The woman felt this response was dismissive, as it didn’t address the serious issue she encountered.
After taking her plate back to the kitchen, the restaurant staff claimed they were unsure how the maggots ended up in her steak.
They suggested that the maggots might have come from the salad instead.
This explanation did not satisfy the woman, who argued, “There should not have been maggots on the plate at all.”
She felt disgusted and wanted to leave immediately.
The woman expressed her disgust, noting that the maggots were “having the time of their life on that piece of steak.”
She pointed out that if multiple people handled the steak, at least one of them should have noticed something wrong.
“The way I see it there are at least two, maybe three people in that restaurant handling the piece of steak … how did not one of those people notice the steak was moving?”
This incident has made her paranoid about cooking beef and has turned her off steak entirely.
After the incident, the woman declined the restaurant’s offer for a replacement meal.
She wanted to leave immediately, feeling grossed out by the whole situation.
Her family meal had turned into a nightmare, and she felt that the restaurant staff did not take her concerns seriously.
“We were out for a family meal, we were hungry, something really disgusting and inappropriate had happened and no one owned up to that,” she added.
The restaurant responds to the incident
In response to the incident, Lone Star Rib House did not comment specifically on the woman’s experience.
However, they mentioned that an independent environmental health officer conducted an inspection the day after the complaint.
According to their report, the inspection did not find any areas of concern.
“Council’s inspection is incorporating all aspects — from food received by the supplier, food storage at the business, and food preparation,” they said.
“Council had previously completed a routine and unannounced inspection at the business on 5 November, which did not identify any concerns.”
They stated that the meat was stored in sealed bags and there were no flies present in the restaurant.
Despite these claims, the woman is still waiting for an apology.
She believes that such an experience should not happen in a restaurant and that proper food safety measures should be in place.
The entire ordeal has left her feeling uneasy about eating out and has made her cautious about where she chooses to dine in the future.
