After reportedly telling a McDonald's employee to "get a career" in a heated exchange, a woman has been let go from her job.

The incident quickly went viral after the woman and her partner started arguing with the staff over a refund.

According to the viral clip shared on the YEGWAVE X page, the video showed the employee mentioning that since the couple had paid with a card, the refund had to be processed in the same manner.

However, that appeared to rub the couple up the wrong way. The couple then insisted on receiving their refund in cash.

The argument between the McDonald's employee and the couple was about the cash refund

In the video, the McDonald’s employee tried to clarify, asking, "You guys paid with debit, right?" only for the man to dismissively reply, "It doesn’t matter."

As the man persisted on a cash refund, the woman criticized the employee, saying,  “You’re in Edmonton. Where are you from? You can’t even speak English. Get a career. Do something for your life. You’re so sad…”

While a dispute arose, the man explained his refusal to wait for his order and instead insisted on a cash refund. However, McDonald's in Edmonton stated that the refund would be given via debit, not cash. The man claimed to have 'lost' his card.

After being refused a cash refund, he threatened to sue both the employee and McDonald's

The argument escalated when the man threatened to call his lawyer in the morning and warned the woman that he would 'sue' both her and McDonald's, despite not specifying the grounds for such action.

When the employee attempted to resolve the issue by asking him to simply 'tap his card' for the refund, he bragged about his social media following, saying,  “Don’t worry. I got 50,000 followers on Instagram. I’m going to post this video, you’re like… this is going viral.”  and once more demanded a cash refund.

“We do not condone that type of language and she is no longer employed at this company.
