Gillian also bought a $440,000 home for her parents, who had been living in a caravan.
Despite Gillian's generosity, her family's appetite for financial support seemed insatiable.
Her parents allegedly pressured her to lend her brother a further $1.2 million to start a new business venture, a request Gillian refused.
This led to a rift, with Gillian's brother Colin eventually ceasing all communication with her, even going so far as to get married without inviting his sister.
Gillian was heartbroken over the situation. She said the money was supposed to make everyone happy, but instead, it made her family members demanding and greedy.
She has made it clear that she has no intention of reconciling with her family. She wishes them a happy life, but there will be no reconciliation between them now.
Gillian's mother, Brenda, has also spoken about the situation. Brenda says she would like to see her grandchildren, but she does not trust Gillian to not twist everything.
Brenda claims that Gillian did not make any effort to reach out to the family and that if she had, Gillian would not have allowed it.
A man who won a $1.35 billion Mega Millions lottery jackpot is suing the mother of his daughter for revealing his winnings to his family.
The man, referred to as "John Doe", had signed a non-disclosure agreement with "Sarah Smith", the mother, promising to keep his identity as the jackpot winner confidential until their daughter turns 18 in 2032.
However, the lawsuit alleges that in September, Smith disclosed Doe's status as the Mega Millions winner to his father and stepmother over phone calls, as well as to Doe's sister, so that many people learned he was the winner.
As a result, Doe is now suing Smith and is seeking $100,000 per unauthorized disclosure.
He is also asking the court to issue an injunction against Smith to prevent her from revealing his identity to others in the future.
