A shocking and heartbreaking story about how she found out her ex-boyfriend was cheating just before he proposed to her has been shared by a woman.
Tiffany Maldonado, 42, revealed on TikTok how she discovered, shockingly, that her former boyfriend had a mistress for the majority of their two-year relationship. She described how, while recording a video of him popping the question, she happened to come across text messages from the other woman.
Tiffany started her story by remembering how serious her relationship had been before it fell apart in front of her.
She explained: "I was madly in love with this man. I was head over heels.
"If he said "jump," I would say, "How high?"'
She claimed that one day he surprised her by taking her to Orlando "just for a little fun at the amusement parks."
He made the decision to sign up at the park for a game show-style competition that was held in a stadium full of other guests.
He gave Tiffany his phone just before the competition started and asked her to take a video of him.
'"I want you to see what's going to happen." And I'm just saying, "Oh my gosh, this is so cute. How much fun."'
Tiffany, excited and proud of her man, was filming him from his cell phone, and quickly became clear they were from a mistress, with Tiffany adding: "She's pissed. She's really pissed. e, but the excitement was short-lived when she witnessed a shocking incident.
The man went on to win the contest.
"And I'm filming from his cell phone that he told me to hold. So here I am with his little cell phone filming. All excited, all proud of my man," Tiffany continued.
But it all fell apart in a matter of minutes when Tiffany noticed several text messages appear on his screen.
They were obviously from a mistress, as Tiffany later revealed, adding, "She's pissed off. She's furious as hell.
"I guess that morning, he had texted her to let her know like, "Hey, it's over between us because I'm about to get engaged today." And she threw a s***-fit even though she herself was married."
"My heart absolutely drops and like I want to vomit. And I'm sitting here in a crowd, with hundreds of people, maybe even thousands of people, trying to keep my hand steady and filming what's happening as he's proposing and announcing it to this whole frickin' stadium full of people.
"But I really know what's happening as I'm seeing these texts flashed across the screen."
The boyfriend sat down to propose, and soon after, Tiffany discovered the couple had appeared on a large screen visible to the entire stadium.
"I am not the type of girl that likes it when people see me sweat," she said.
After that, Tiffany said she made the decision to "maintain my composure and to simply stroll outside the stadium and wait for him outside."
"He immediately gives me a huge hug and tells me that he loves me. And of course, does the proposal again to my face this time, not just on the big screen."
"He knew that he was caught and for the next 30 minutes he proceeded to just tell me everything that he thought that I wanted to hear and I was just numb," Tiffany admitted.
"The only words that I could manage to muster up at this point were: "Baby this two-carat diamond ring. It's just not going to be enough."'
Tiffany recounts her initial engagement and the awkward silence they drove home. She admits not telling her friends or sister about the engagement, but they asked questions when they noticed she was wearing a diamond ring.
"I had so much invested in this relationship that it was really hard to break it off immediately," she said.
"Again, we're human, and I'm not messy. So I really tried to give it a go."
She went on to say that everything finally "fell apart" for good two or three months after his proposal.
"He was never gonna win my trust back," Tiffany stated.
"And it took about two years and $10,000 of therapy just to finally be right again with me."
