According to his mother's account, Josh fought the catfish that took the bait; he wrestled with the huge fish, causing his rod to bend double. Finally, he emerged victorious and caught the catfish, which weighed a whopping 152 pounds and measured 9 feet in length.

She said, 'Josh had the rod, and he was fighting the catfish. The rod was bent over, and it was obvious it was a big one.

'It is his dream to catch one over 100 pounds, so there was no way he was going to let go. He did brilliantly, and it took him about 25 minutes.

Joshua, from East Grinstead, West Sussex, comes from a family of avid anglers, as both his parents are also keen anglers.

After the first fish he caught, he went on to catch thousands more.

His mother, Lorna, said Josh got his fishing rod when he was 4, and since then, Josh seems to think fishing is everything in his life. When he was 6, he caught the first catfish, which weighed 22 lbs.

In 2009, another 11-year-old, Jessica Wanstall, from Sittingbourne, Kent, hooked a nearly 200-pound catfish from the River Ebro.
