The world's tallest woman has flown on a plane for the first time in her life. Turkish Airlines removed six economy seats to accommodate her.
Rumeysa Gelgi, a 25-year-old individual documented in the Guinness Book of World Records for her remarkable height of 7 feet, undertook a 13-hour flight with Turkey's national carrier.
She typically relies on a wheelchair due to Weaver syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by rapid growth.
Rumeysa boarded the flight from Istanbul to San Francisco, thanks to the airline's transformation of six seats into a makeshift stretcher to accommodate her.
Suffering from scoliosis, a condition that prevents her from sitting for extended periods, Rumeysa had to recline on a bed during the journey.
Taking to social media, Ms. Gelgi shared her journey with her followers, expressing her gratitude for the seamless experience.
She said: "A flawless journey from start to finish... this was my first plane ride but it certainly won't be my last... a heartfelt thank you to each and every person who has been a part of my journey."
Ms. Gelgi, employed in the technology software industry, intends to stay in the United States for at least six months to advance her career and collaborate with Guinness World Records.
Rumeysa Gelgi has held a Guinness World Record since 2014 when she was recognized as the tallest teenager alive, before achieving the title of the world's tallest woman in 2021.
Additionally, she has set Guinness World Records for the longest finger on a living female person, the largest hands on a living female person, and the longest back on a living female person, with her right hand measuring 24.93cm, significantly exceeding the average female hand measurement of approximately 17cm.
