The background of the logistics industry nowadays

UPS and Amazon are outstanding companies that often employ a huge amount workforce of delivery drivers

As a result, the revelations on UPS drivers' salaries have sparked discussions and left Amazon drivers shocked enough to quit their jobs.

After receiving "industry-leading pay and benefits," UPS drivers inspired two drivers who are part of the Amazon Delivery Service Partner program to speak out.

UPS Drivers' Pay Revealed

Early this year, United Parcel Service (UPS) and the Teamsters Union, signed a 5-years contract that aimed to raise the pay packet for their 340,000 package handlers and delivery drivers, which was named a new standard in the labor movement.

A full-time driver's pay packet reaches up to $170,000 annually in pay and benefits.

This salary rate is great news for all UPS drivers after the strong rise in inflation.

UPS CEO Carol Tomé said in a press release at the time: "This agreement continues to reward UPS's full- and part-time employees with industry-leading pay and benefits while retaining the flexibility we need to stay competitive, serve our customers, and keep our business strong."

Teamsters President Sean O'Brien added: "We've changed the game, battling it out day and night to make sure our members won an agreement that pays strong wages, rewards their labor, and doesn't require a single concession. This contract sets a new standard in the labor movement and raises the bar for all workers."

Reasons for Wanting to Quit of Amazon Drivers

In contrast, some Amazon Delivery Service Partner (DSP) drivers get furious due to their low-rate salaries and consider moving to UPS.

Many feel that they have not received reasonable compensation for their hard work and dedication.

The most obvious reason is the significant difference in pay between the two companies.

UPS drivers earn an average of $170,000 per year, while full-time Amazon drivers make approximately  $40,000.

This vast pay gap is a strong motivator for Amazon drivers to seek employment elsewhere.

Additionally, many have also reported long hours, tight schedules, and high-pressure environments, which can take a toll on their physical and mental well-being.

Otherwise, UPS drivers have more manageable schedules and better working conditions, making it a more attractive option for many Amazon drivers.
