As a result, a viral TikTok video posted by Aaron Alford (@aaronalfordacts) that revealed the secret of not having to pay rent has garnered thousands of online users.
According to Aaron for the past six years, he has successfully avoided paying rent, electricity bills, and water bills.
What makes this even more remarkable is that he spent three of those years residing in a location just outside Los Angeles, known for its high cost of living.
Alford's claim of living rent-free and without utility expenses has captured the attention of many people grappling with financial hardships.
It has sparked curiosity and a desire to learn his secret to such an unconventional living arrangement.
Many individuals facing financial difficulties are eager to know how he has managed to sustain this lifestyle for an extended period, particularly in a costly area like Los Angeles.
“For the past six years, I haven’t paid any rent or an electricity bill or a water bill,” he says.
“Three of those years were spent about 40 minutes outside of L.A. in one of the most expensive places to live in America.”
In the TikTok video, he reveals that his method of living without paying rent involves being a resident manager at a storage facility.
“I am a resident manager at a storage facility,” he shared.
“Many storage facilities like to have someone who’s on the property at all times, so they give you a place to live,” he added.
Alford reveals that he currently resides in a three-bedroom apartment in Houston, Texas, without having to pay any rent.
Intriguingly, he proceeds to provide insight into how easily this rent-free living arrangement can be achieved.
“All you need to know is how to rent an empty room to people, and then take money for rent on the first,” he explains. “It’s stupid easy.
