A Walmart worker was fired for refusing to clean the window
A Walmart worker, who goes by @kaotickisha, took a video on Tiktok where she shared the reason why she was fired due to something.
At the beginning of the video, a content creator explained that she declined the window because that's not her job description.
The video showed Kisha standing by the store’s entrance when the general manager asked her to get some spray and some paper towels and clean up the doors.
However, Kisha refused to do it and responded, "I’m like, ‘What do you mean? That’s not my job description.’”
Although the manager repeated his request that she clean the window, Kisha remained firm and refused to do it. She said, “‘No, I’m not doing that.’”
Another sales associate cleans the window instead of Kisha.
The story continued after the manager requested another sales associate to clean the window, taking over Kisha's job.
Kisha recounts in the video: “She had to do both inside and outside. Do you see her? She gets it down, baby.”
She continues, “Not me, though."
Then, she admits that she has a sore back, which is why she does not want to clean the doors. She wrote the caption: “A 65-inch TV fell on my back, and you want me to do what?"
She informed her followers in the video that she was fired after refusing to clear the window, as a text overlay stated: "Walmart couldn't wait to fire me."
Kisha’s refusal to clean the window has sparked much debate
The video quickly went viral on social media, gaining 930,000 views and over 2,000 comments.
Several users criticized Kisha for not taking responsibility for her job, while opinions were split on whether or not her defiance was justified. On the other hand, others supported her.
One person said: Sometimes you just have to step up and do things you wouldn’t normally do. That’s what a good employee does!
A second wrote: I understand, but sometimes it's not worth the hassle to go back and forth or to be looking for another job in a terrible economy.
While a third commented: It’s ppl that aren’t willing to do anything extra that doesn’t have anything extra. Just remember that.
Someone else said: It’s better to say you feel it’s unsafe due to your back injury so he can’t claim insubordination.
