The video footage captured the moment Tommy Purcell, who was already shirtless, crossed the low gate and proceeded towards the pool.
He took a shaky step onto the diving board, and a female security guard rushed toward him. However, he was fully clothed in shorts and sneakers and took a leap into the pool before she could reach him.
After the incident, Purcell faced criticism from angry online commentators who found his behavior 'disrespectful.' However, his wife defended him, arguing that the late singer Elvis Presley would not have wanted him to face legal consequences for his actions."

In response, Ms. Murphy shared a follow-up video in which she argued that her husband's actions were not criminal, and she believed that people's reactions stemmed from envy.
