In her post on Instagram, she urged us all to stop making our beds in the morning, emphasizing the importance of allowing them to "breathe".

She explained that our sheets tend to become hot and damp overnight, and we should keep the covers off for a while after waking up

She wrote: "It seems a lot of people get up and make the bed straight away. This is something you need to stop doing.

"Get out of bed and throw the duvet back and let your bed breathe.

The expert recommended her followers get out of bed instead of making their bed in the morning and to "uncover the duvet to allow the bed to breathe'.

She explained:

'During the night we not only sweat but we also shed skin, and this is a magnet for dust mites and bed bugs,'

The mom supposed that dust mites and bed bugs are attracted to damp and humid areas, along with old skin.

She debunked a common misconception that beds do not need to be aired in the winter, explaining that beds should be aired regardless of the season, as even during winter with the central heating on, these pests can still thrive.

She added: 'By making your bed first thing every morning you are trapping all that damp air and helping dusts mites and bed bugs breed.'

Mrs. D emphasized that while it  'sounds horrible', it is an undeniable fact. To address the issue, the mother provided four valuable tips to minimize dust mites and bed bugs. Among her recommendations is to air the bed for at least an hour every day.

'If you don’t have an hour in the morning leave it till you get home, and make the bed then..at least you know it’s had a good airing,' she added.

She only gave some advice that we should wash our sheets once a week using a high wash cycle and a laundry cleanse. She recommended deep-cleaning the mattress by vacuuming and using a steam cleaner monthly to eliminate bacteria and dust mites.

Furthermore, she suggested washing duvets and pillows every 6 months, recommending taking them to the launderette if they cannot fit in the washing machine
