Dad mocked for selling DFS sofa on Facebook for £750 covered in his child's drawings

Saturday, 07/10/2023, 19:45 (GMT+7)

The father faced criticism for selling a DFS sofa on Facebook for £750 after it was covered in his child's permanent marker drawings.

A father has become the subject of online mockery after attaching a £750 price tag to his sofa, despite its surface being covered in permanent marker drawings made by his child.

The sofa, originally from DFS, is a cream-colored three-seater made of leather, with two of the seats featuring reclining capabilities. However, the entire couch has been scribbled upon with thick black marker pen, including the cushions, arms, front, and even the wall behind it in the seller, Esfandiar Aria's living room.

Despite the less-than-appealing drawings, Mr. Aria has listed the sofa for sale. He has set the asking price at a surprising £750 on Facebook Marketplace, discounted from its original £1,250. The sofa is available for pickup in Luton, Bedfordshire.

Mr. Aria asserts that he purchased the sofa only a few months ago and claims that "there is nothing wrong with it except what you see." The listing description reads as follows: 'This is a Beautiful creamy Winston three-seat sofa from DFS.

'Used only for a few months.

'Recliners: Electric/ automatic.

'Reason for selling: My little one drew all over it with black ink permanent marker.

'There is nothing wrong with it except what you see.'

One person said: How long was the child left alone with a marker pen? Does this man actually think he'll sell that furniture? Even free I wouldn't have it!!

A second wrote: That happens when a child is left unsupervised for a very long period of time. Take it to the tip, you lazy, greedy parent.

A third commented: A permanent marker can be removed using a cellulose thinner. However, given that this is cream/white there will likely be some residue so it would be simpler to remove as much as possible and then stain the leather a darker shade. Either way, you are going to have to treat the leather after using cellulose thinner. It's not worth 750 given the time to clean and stain/treat the leather. More like 50.

Another said: How long were these children unattended to be able to do that all over the sofa and walls? The drawings on the wall are super high up as well! Where was were supervision?

750 for a DHS sofa? Really. Actually, the dreadful state of some of the furniture advertised on the facebook marketplace never ceases to amaze me. I would love to reply - Take it to the tip yourself. Someone added.
