A Canadian fisherman, Yves Bisson accidentally caught a "living dinosaur" on the Fraser River with a terrifying size: 10.5 feet and weighing 600 pounds.

Additionally, with two decades as a guide, Bisson estimates the animal could be up to 100 years old.

In the viral video, Bisson excitedly holds the animal and exclaims: “Check this out, this creature is up to 10 and a half feet, probably 500 pounds, no, it's maybe 600.”

The “living dinosaur” on the Fraser River is a giant sturgeon

According to the video description, this giant creature is a sturgeon, a fish originating from the Jurassic period. They are one of the oldest living species on Earth.

Sturgeons have existed for millions of years. They are large freshwater fish with long bodies and distinctive shapes.

The fish is found primarily in large rivers and lakes around the world, including freshwater bodies in North America, Europe, and Asia.

A striking feature of sturgeons is that they have large scales and a long, narrow snout, which helps them dig and find food at the bottom of rivers or lakes.

Sturgeon is also famous because its caviar, known as caviar, is highly valuable and used in high-end cuisine.

However, due to habitat loss and overfishing, many sturgeon species are facing extinction.

Canadian fisherman release the giant sturgeon back to its home

After taking pictures of it, the fisherman happily released it back home. At the same time, he affirms that the abundant habitat here can nourish it for another 100 years.

"They are the toughest freshwater fish in the world, with a catch-and-release mortality rate of 0.012%. They never die, and we can prove it with our world-renowned tagging program.

"This giant fish swam away after being released. It will live another 100 years."

The carp was reported to be 20 years old, about the size of a 10-year-old child and nicknamed "carrot."

The man said it took him more than 3 years to be able to catch this giant fish. After taking a few photos with it, he quickly released it back into the lake.

Similarly, a boy named Joshua Davenport also caught a catfish weighing 152 pounds and measuring up to 9 feet long in Spain, setting a record for the largest freshwater fish.
