A TikToker reveals that eating free bread at restaurants can end up costing you more money.

Denise, who has a TikTok account @sweetfiber, revealed the real reason why restaurants serve customers with homemade bread or chips and dip, depending on cuisine, prior to a meal.

This TikToker explains how this strategy contributes to the restaurant's increased revenue. Consuming bread while eyeing the menu heightens your appetite due to the fluctuations in your blood sugar levels caused by bread consumption.

With this approach, the restaurant not only generates profit but also comes across as generous in the eyes of the customers. The provision of free baskets not only showcases hospitality but also triggers a heightened sense of appetite. Consequently, the restaurant ends up making more money.

However, not all netizens agree with Denise's perspective. Many people argue that they feel full after consuming bread, leading them to order less.

'Another idiot TikTok "expert". If I eat the bread, half my meal is coming home in a doggy bag. I'm definitely not ordering dessert.', one person said.

Another argued: 'Whatever.  Pass me the bread basket, and I will pass on this trendy "guru" and her blather...

And what are your appetizers, please'.

'We get free bread and a salad and happy hour .TikTok gets egg rolls', one user comment.
