Man forced to pay £50 for not eating salad after devouring 4,500-calorie mixed grill challenge.

After completing a challenging 4,500-calorie mixed grill meal at a restaurant, a man was unexpectedly required to pay £50.

The reason for the charge was that he did not consume the accompanying salad.

The challenge consisted of various items, including steak, gammon, sausages, chicken wings, chicken breast, and a burger.

Cattlemans Steakhouse, located in Paignton, Devon, has found itself at the center of a heated debate after showcasing the remarkable feat of customer Dan, who made an impressive attempt to devour a colossal meal within the challenging time limit of one hour.

The restaurant's decision to publicize this endeavor has stirred up controversy and drawn attention from both supporters and critics alike.

Cattlemans Steakhouse's belly-busting Mega Mixed Grill is an epic feast weighing a whopping 3.2 kilograms.

This colossal meal features a 20oz rump steak, 12oz of succulent gammon, four mouthwatering sausages, three delectable chicken wings, a scrumptious chicken breast, and a juicy 6oz cheeseburger.

Despite approximately 80 individuals daring to take on the Mega Mixed Grill challenge since its introduction on the menu 10 months ago, Cattlemans Steakhouse boldly asserts that the success rate for conquering this gastronomic feat stands at a mere 10 percent.

This statistic showcases the immense difficulty of the challenge and underscores the impressive accomplishment of those few who emerge victorious.

The photo shared by the steakhouse captures Dan's disappointed expression, with his thumb down, conveying his near accomplishment. The accompanying caption humorously mentions that the restaurant was unaware of his dislike for salad.

However, the venue asserts that Dan had previously expressed his aversion to salad, adding to the controversy surrounding his inability to complete the challenge.

TikTok users, expressing annoyance, swiftly praised Dan as a victor, with many accusing the steakhouse of unfairness and suggesting that the salad should not have been included in the challenge.

On the other hand, some users raised the question of why Dan couldn't simply "grow up" and consume the salad in order to claim the £50 prize and avoid the significant penalty for not completing the challenge.

Gary King, the owner of the steakhouse, which has been operating for seven years, has come forward to defend his team's decision to withhold Dan's prize and charge him, stating simply that "the challenge is to eat everything."

However, interestingly, the steakhouse's most recent description of the challenge does not mention the inclusion of any salad.

This discrepancy has raised questions about the clarity and consistency of the challenge requirements.

He also expressed some pity for the customer but emphasized that he should have asked to swap the salad for more chips or onion rings before the challenge.

However, Dan did not make this request, resulting in the salad being included in the meal.

Gary said: "It's simple. It's a challenge and the challenge is to eat and clear everything, otherwise it wouldn't be a challenge.

"Had he said to us that he didn't want any salad then we'd have put a few more chips or onion rings on. He didn't say anything at the start or while he was eating it.

"His exact words were 'I know it's stupid but I'm not going to eat that salad. Not even for £50 because I don't eat salad.'"

"A lot of people think that we don't want to complete it, but what we find is that for every person that does complete it ten mates are going to come and try it because they think they can do it," Gary added.

The owner states that the record time for completing the Mega Mixed Grill challenge is 15 minutes and 42 seconds. Participants from Asia and America have traveled to the steakhouse to take on the contest.

The hardest challenge at the steakhouse is believed to be the 5kg roast dinner, while the "easiest" challenge is the burger challenge with two 24oz patties, completed by approximately one in fifteen participants.

He won for me. Salad is taking the p**s, one person commented.

For the sake of 50 quid you should have just grown up, Dan, and ate it, the second said.

Should have just wrapped the salad around the meat would have made it easier to eat, another suggested.

He won it' and 'I think he won, to be honest, someone insisted.
