A teenage student from Melbourne Grammar School has been suspended from $20,000-a-year school
In a recent incident that has sparked debate on social media, a teenage student from Melbourne Grammar School has faced suspension.
He even faced expulsion after a prank went wrong, after soaking a group with milk during the board ride.
The incident, which took place on January 27th, involved the 16-year-old drenching a group of women with milk during a boat ride on the Yarra River.
The incident was captured and quickly went viral on social media, gaining over 32.6 million views.
The student was investigated after he soaked a group of women with milk and posted it online.
The student, whose tuition fees at the prestigious $20,000-a-year school were posted to his Instagram account, "giddynokiddy.
The footage showed the women, who were surrounded by picnic items and fruit, being unexpectedly soaked in milk, leading to their understandable frustration and dismay.
Veronica Burgess, one of the victims, expressed her frustration on TikTok, humorously seeking to identify the prankster responsible for "ruining their day."
The school has taken a firm stance on the matter.
The school authorities unanimously agreed that the student's behavior is unacceptable.
Melbourne Grammar School said. “We continue to have the firm view that this behavior was completely unacceptable and have treated the matter with the utmost seriousness."
Additionally, the Melbourne Grammar School has imposed a combination of suspension, reparation, mandatory apologies, and counseling on the student, treating the incident with "the utmost seriousness."
After the incident, the student faced backlash and the potential for expulsion.
The prankster then allegedly removed the video after realizing he had gone too far.
He appealed to the public through the Herald Sun, asking for an end to contact with his school and lamenting the severe impact of the situation on his life. His actions have also attracted the attention of Victoria Police, which issued a warning for unlawful assault.
According to Heral Sun, the boy wrote: “Please stop contacting my school, my school has caught me and I am facing expulsion. Can’t believe you would do this to (a) minor."
“Why’d you do this to me. You ruin my life over a ruined day, you upped the anti, I’m just a kid and you ruined my life. Too far,” they boy added.
The incident has sparked debate, and the community reaction has been mixed.
Several agreed to the school's and police's response as a necessary measure of accountability, while others questioned whether the punitive actions taken against the teenager might be excessively harsh.
One person said: Giddynokiddy posted proof of them doing it, take it to the police.
A second wrote: “We’re actually gonna stink”
