On social media, viewers felt horrified after witnessing two tourists destroy a rock formation at Lake Mead National Park.

A disturbing video has emerged on social media showing two tourists destroying a rock formation at Lake Mead National Park in Nevada. 

The authorities are seeking the public's help after the video captured two tourists destroying a 'Beautiful' rock formation in National Park

The incident, which took place on April 7th, 2024, was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media. Park rangers are now seeking the public's help to identify the individuals involved.

The National Park Service (NPS) shared a still image from the video on their Facebook page.

They urged anyone with information to come forward. They provided multiple avenues for submitting tips anonymously, including a hotline number, website link, and email address.

The video captured two tourists destroying a 'Beautiful' rock formation in National Park.

The video has the caption: "US park rangers at Lake Mead National Recreation Area are seeking information from the public to identify two vandalism suspects seen here."

"In a now-viral video said to be recorded on the evening of Sunday, April 7, 2024, two adult males are seen toppling natural rock formations at the Redstone Dunes Trail.'

"Information from visitors is often very helpful to investigators. If you were on the Redstone Dunes Trail on the evening of Sunday, April 7, 2024, or if you have information that could help identify the suspects, please submit a tip. You don't have to tell us who you are, but please tell us what you know:"

The full video was shared on Instagram by the account "Tourons of Yellowstone," condemning the act of vandalism. The post highlights the helplessness of bystanders who could only document the incident.

The video quickly viral on social media and sparked debate among viewers.

One person said: People like this need to have real charges brought against them, heavy fines, jail time etc.. if convicted and banned from ALL National Parks and Recreation areas nationwide!!!

A second wrote: This destruction makes no sense but seems to be happening all over. We need stricter laws on needless destruction of public property.

While a third commented: I mean why???? Folks like these two fellas are just destructive and can’t leave things alone, always have to destroy something for no reason.

Someone else said: Million-dollar fine, 15 years in prison.

Another added: Hopefully, someone recognizes them. They were just leaving their mark in the geological timeline. History should consider this act part of the Stone Age. Rather uncivilized.

Someone added: I can’t believe these grown men are acting like children. They should be prosecuted to the maximum of the law for destroying federal property.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Public Information Officer, John Haynes, expressed outrage at the incident. 

He described the vandalized rock formation as a "beautiful" and "favorite" place in the park. Haynes emphasized the seriousness of the crime, stating the potential consequences for the vandals could range from a fine to jail time.

Previously, a tourist sparked outrage after carving his girlfriend's name into Rome's Colosseum with keys.

The viral video on social media showed a man wearing a periwinkle shirt and shorts carving what appears to be "Ivan + Hayley 23" into the ancient structure of the Roman Colosseum.

The Colosseum is known as a monumental architectural marvel that dates back 2,000 years.

His action of engraving his girlfriend's name sparked criticism from the online community.

After the incident, police contacted him to inform him that he could be fined up to $16,000 and could even be jailed for two to five years.

According to the Daily Mail, the man who carved his girlfriend's name into Rome's Colosseum with keys has expressed his apologies and sincere remorse for his actions.
