In the footage, Sarah was seen in fear as the magpie aggressively almost pecked her eye out with its beak partially lodged in her eye socket.

Sharing the video with her followers, Sarah felt compelled to do so as a cautionary measure. She admitted not initially realizing the severity, stating.

She explained that the magpie 'put a hole with its beak all the way to the very back of her eye'.

"I actually didn't realize it went in my eye. I thought it just hit me in the side of the face til I watched back the video. I'm traumatized. I feel sick.' she told viewers.

She zoomed into the bird pecked at her eyes and said: 'It literally went in my eye. I actually can't. It is so disgusting.'

Below the video, Sarah showed off her inflamed eye and said she was worried she might have contracted an infection from the incident.

Some onlookers questioned whether the bird was a magpie, instead believing it to be a magpie lark, which is unlikely to attack humans.

One person said: Magpies are in full swooping season and can be an absolute hazard. Always watch out when walking in unfamiliar places. And make friends with the ones near your home - they remember your face.

A second wrote: I have a scar in the outer corner of my eyelid due to a Piping Strike. Was attacking car mirrors as I walked past & went me instead.

A third commented: Be nice to magpies, feed them, and love them. They will learn to trust you and they remember faces and tell their magpies friends. I’ve never been swooped by a magpie because I had a family of them I used to look after. Now whenever I see any they are nice to me. Weird but true.

Never happened to me once and I used to go running every day in parks all year around! Yes, they swoop but it's all about how u react to them. If u swoosh them and aggravate them they remember! Another added.

Someone else said: A magpie once pecked me in the head as a child and it’s beak straight up BROKE OFF in my head…
