People on social media have sparked a debate after a TikTok user responded to criticism for still living with her parents at the age of 25.

Nowadays, in a challenging cost-of-living environment, living with one's parents presents a viable option for many of us.

Many people not only choose to stay or return to their parental homes to enjoy significantly lower costs but also benefit from their mother's culinary skills, among other reasons. That's why many opt for the comfort of their childhood residences.

Nonetheless, this remains a contentious topic, and a TikToker recently faced scrutiny and criticism for choosing to continue living with her parents at the age of 25.

TikToker Saby, who goes by the handle @sabyhesri on the platform, used her page to respond to another user who had criticized her decision to reside at home.

The comment in question read,  "Girl, you're 25 and you're living at your parent's house still."

In her video response, Saby delved into her living situation at home, highlighting that she doesn't "pay rent" and that her mother prepares "amazing food" on a daily basis.

The TikToker continues: "And like I'll never live with my parents again after I get married and move out. These are the only years I have."

However, Saby acknowledged her decision to continue living with her parent.

She added: "Sometimes I'm like, 'I really gotta go I'm getting old. I'm expiring at this house,'" she continues. "And other times I'm like, 'I'm just a chicken. I'm just a baby.'"

The TikToker admitted that she believes she would feel "lonely and bored" if she were to live alone, emphasizing that her job doesn't necessitate such a move, and she remains single, thus envisioning herself "staring at the walls all day."

She concluded her video with a rhetorical question: "Is that what you want me to do?"

One person said: The phenomenon of moving out of the house once a person turns 18 is not really the norm for most parts of the world. In Asia, Africa & Latin America, it’s still normal to see big households. I think that is only imposed on Americans by real estate companies so they can sell or rent out more and more housing units. For the most part of history, humans have lived with extended family. We are social beings, we thrive in cooperation. Do we really want to seclude ourselves and live in bubbles?

A second wrote: I lived with my mom 'til I was 30. I helped pay bills, wasn't like I was just a free-loading kid. The housing market is hella awful these days.

A third commented: Girl don’t listen to anyone. Living alone is overrated.

Another said: My dad kicked me out as soon as I turned 18. Then again when I was in the middle of a custody battle. Was homeless 4 a long time. Makes you grow up fast.

Someone else said: I was 30 I moved out when I got married. It’s an Italian culture thing. Even to this day, most girls live at home till they married: bought a house when I was 21 and rented it out till I moved in with my husband. Would never have been able to do that if I didn’t have my parent's support

I was 25 in 2004 and lived at home till I was 28, but I'll always be grateful to my mum for charging me £250 a month whether I was working or not to keep me motivated and ready for budgeting in my own place. Another added.
