In the YouTube series Catfished, she claimed to have met 28-year-old actor Dacre Montgomery on an online forum for creatives

She describes herself as obsessed with Stranger Things; despite being unsure from the start, both of them struck it great.

That faker also convinced her they were Montgomery by sending her poems similar to Montgomery's 2020 poetry collection, DKMH.

The person revealed that Billy's character would return in season four's episode named Dear Billy.

McKayla checked it and found that only the actor could've known.

According to messages shared by McKayla, although the person pretending to be Montgomery said he was still with his girlfriend, Liv, they were thinking about breaking up.

She is informed by Montgomery that his girlfriend is controlling and he has spoken to her about his relationship.

McKayla, who had a toxic ex-husband, sympathized with an internet user named 'Montgomery' who had a dominating girlfriend.

They admitted to having feelings for each other after a year of texting, and 'Montgomery' subtly asked her out and forced her to choose between her husband and him.

As a result, McKayla chose the online user.

Montgomery explained that he needed money to be able to quit his relationship, which was technically together in public but split up behind closed doors.

The actor was allegedly left unable to access the pair's shared bank account without attracting suspicion.

McKayla admitted that she sent the pretender a whopping $10,000.

The woman became suspicious after sending money and sought help from Catfished to determine if it was a fraud.

She is now sharing her experience to raise awareness among those who are more prone to being duped.

Kayla says: "If you're someone like me, you're afraid of abandonment and you're a real big people pleaser and you're very co-dependent. These scammers, they just kind of come in and they leech off that.

"It's a dopamine fix every time you wake up, every time you go to bed, several hours a day. It's a fix. It's a hit."

UNILAD asked for a response from Montgomery's representatives.
