A female tiktoker has caused discussions on social media by asserting that men should be the ones to handle the financial burden on the first date.

In a recent TikTok video that has captivated online audiences, a woman named Elle McNamara, known as @BambiDoesBeauty, has stirred up a contentious discussion about the age-old question of who should foot the bill on the first date.

Her perspective has ignited a fiery debate, with opinions sharply divided.

However, her reasons for this viewpoint have caused disagreement and differing opinions among those who saw the video.

Elle creatively presented her argument by sharing her makeup routine on TikTok.

In the video, she showcased her extensive collection of beauty products, emphasizing their high costs. Each item was meticulously displayed, revealing the total sum of over $296 for her complete makeup routine.

While Elle's video attempted to draw a connection between the expenses women incur for their appearance and the expectation for men to cover the first date, viewers quickly pointed out several flaws in her reasoning.

One major criticism was that the costs she presented were for the entire pack or tube of makeup, far exceeding the amount typically used for a single evening out.

Commenters argued that it was unreasonable to equate the total cost of makeup with the price of a meal.

Opinions diverged significantly within the comment section of the TikTok video.

Some viewers disagreed with Elle's stance, emphasizing that the decision to purchase and wear makeup was a personal choice, and it did not necessitate men paying for the date.

They acknowledged the effort Elle put into her appearance but believed that the financial responsibility should be shared or alternated between partners.

Others expressed skepticism, suggesting that Elle's argument might be intended as a joke or satire, considering the exaggerated cost of her makeup routine.

Apart from the debate over who should pay on the first date, the conversation highlighted broader issues.

Some commenters pointed out that Elle's argument overlooked the fact that men also wear makeup, emphasizing that gender should not dictate financial obligations in a relationship.
