Optical illusions often captivate and perplex us, challenging our perception and understanding of the world.

The latest viral image on Reddit has left viewers scratching their heads, trying to determine which of two overlapping skyscrapers is closer.

This mind-bending illusion demonstrates how easily our brains can be tricked by visual stimuli.

 What is an optical illusion?

An optical illusion is an image that deceives our brains, making us see something that isn't there or misinterpreting the reality in front of us.

These illusions play with our perception of color, light, and patterns, often leading to fascinating and confusing experiences.

On social media, an optical illusion that went viral has left people baffled.

The photo of the overlapping skyscrapers was posted on Reddit's Confusing_Perspective forum, a thread dedicated to mind-boggling illusions.

The simple yet perplexing question posed by a user was: "Which building is closer?"

The initial reaction of many viewers was to believe the lighter-colored building on the right was nearer.

However, upon closer inspection, others argued that the building on the left is closer. This disagreement highlights how different aspects of the image can influence our perception.

In the comment selection, many easily find the answer: "The one in front," while another details their thought process.

One person said: I personally think it’s the left one as the left one covers some of the windows off the right one where if it was right one it wouldn’t have windows covered from the left one.

A second wrote: The grey one. It took me 5 sec

While a third commented: To me, the left one is in front of the right one and it's like in the other side of the street and the AC looks bigger as well compared to the left one.

Another added: Definitely the one on the left, it’s covering parts of the other one. Also the sun is behind the one on the left, you can tell by the shadows and that’s what causing the illusion.

Someone else said: Grey one. It's blocking the other ones windows on some floors

The lit up one because of you look at the scale of the windows the shaded building is about 5% smaller. Another user added.

This isn't the first time an optical illusion has sparked widespread fascination.

Previously, an optical illusion revealed whether you're kind or realistic based on whether you see the cat going up the stairs or down the stairs.

Well, this is interesting!

Mia, an online personality, explains that the way you perceive the cat's movement can say a lot about your personality.

If you see the cat walking up the stairs, it suggests you have a heart of gold and can be quite gullible. You often see the best in others and are willing to help whenever possible. However, if someone betrays you or someone you love, you remember it for life.

Conversely, if you see the cat walking down the stairs, it indicates that you are a realist and a cynic.

You can sense when someone is going to ask something of you, and you prefer to hear the hard truth.

People trust you with their secrets, and you favor deep, intellectual conversations over small talk.

However, you might find it challenging to enjoy happy moments fully, as you are aware that all good things must come to an end.
