A mother of three from Manchester posted a video on TikTok, sharing an act of kindness from a stranger that made it possible for her to afford her weekly groceries.
Beth broke into tears as she recounted her story on TikTok.
A struggling mom who goes by @boowitchy posted a video on Tiktok, explaining that she couldn't cover the £41.65 bill for her family's groceries at the checkout.
She was distressed and unsure which essential items to return from her already modest shopping cart. Luckily, Beth was approached by a compassionate stranger who not only offered to pay for her groceries but also reassured her that facing financial challenges did not make her a bad parent.
In the video, she sobbed as she told her TikTok followers that she purchased it with a food bill of £40, but everyone in the checkout line began to stare at her when she realized she didn't have enough money.
She sobbed: 'I literally had to run home to cry.'
Not only did a compassionate stranger offer to pay her food bill, but they also gave her some money to assist her family
As she contemplated which essential items her family needed the most, another shopper, who had experienced a similar situation, stepped up to help cover the bill.
She recounts in the video that she broke down in tears after the stranger offered words of encouragement. Additionally, the kind stranger also gave her some money to help the family get through the rest of the week.
Beth described the woman's kindness. "The woman was really nice," she said. "She gave me a massive hug and said that she had been in the same position before.'
Beth continued, "She reminded me that just because I am struggling at the moment does not mean that I am a bad mom." The kind stranger shared with Beth that there are many parents who can empathize with her situation because they've experienced similar challenges.
Below the video, several people are flooding in to comment in support of Boo and praise the kind stranger.
Numerous people are commenting on the post in Boo's favor and praising the nice stranger; many of them are sharing similar experiences of their own.
The comments section of Beth's TikTok post was filled with individuals sharing their own financially precarious experiences.
One person said: The tattoo she has would probably have paid for her food bill for a few months.
A second said: Like most, I have been there, so I like to help others if possible. My pet peeve is those who pay for others only so they can announce they did so online; a true gift is done anonymously without fanfare.
A third wrote: I am on here. I have also done this at my local grocery store. I have probably paid for a dozen people this year. I never announce what I do; I prefer to do so quietly.
Someone else said: Helping a person buy food is an amazing good deed. It was done for me once, and I have done it for others. In this country, no one should go without food. The prices of groceries are just plain greed. Companies are charging so much more for less product. Something needs to change.
I am happy to help people, but I do not offer when they have multiple expensive tattoos or purchase junk food. Another added.
