A tourist from Azerbaijan was arrested after accidentally causing a bomb scare by using the word 'grenade' instead of 'pomegranate'.

A tourist in Portugal was arrested after he accidentally caused a bomb scare by mistake when he took the cake, all due to a mistranslation of the local word for 'pomegranate.

According to local media, a 36-year-old Russian speaker from Azerbaijan was arrested after he inadvertently used the word "grenade" instead of "pomegranate" while trying to order fruit juice at a restaurant in Lisbon

According to the local newspaper Correio da Manhã, the man 36-year-old unnamed Russian wanted to order juice, leading to this translation mishap. The translation app he used to communicate his request inadvertently confused the Portuguese word for "pomegranate" with "grenade," which greatly alarmed the waiter.

It was reported that he speaks Russian and Hebrew, and his official language is Hebrew. His mistake was due to the fact that in both Russian and Hebrew, 'pomegranate' and 'grenade' are the same words, which caused the app to provide an erroneous translation for the fruit in Portuguese.

As reported, he was unaware that the app had mistakenly translated the word for 'grenade,' causing the alarmed staff member to interpret it as a bomb threat and call the police.

According to video footage captured by local media, it depicts a rather dramatic scene. The video shows five officers approaching the hapless traveler with their weapons drawn. They proceeded to handcuff the man and take him into custody

The unknown man was then transported to a local police station for interrogation. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that he didn't have any weapons. Authorities also conducted a comprehensive search of his hotel room and thoroughly inspected the restaurant

Then, they have since released the man.
