An upcoming film is already in production about the OceanGate Titan sub tragedy that resulted in its implosion.

The tragedy involving the OceanGate submersible, which imploded during a voyage to the Titanic wreckage, is already in the process of being adapted into a movie.

The OceanGate submersible was on a mission to the Titanic's wreck site when it suddenly vanished, losing contact with the pilot ship Polar Prince after approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

Following its disappearance on June 18, a substantial rescue operation led by the US Coast Guard was launched. Debris was later discovered near the area, approximately 600 kilometers off Newfoundland, where the submersible was believed to have been when it went missing.

US Coast Guard Rear Admiral John Mauger stated that the debris was "consistent with a catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber," and all five individuals on board were confirmed to have perished.

According to reports, the movie will be co-written by Justin MacGregor and Jonathan Keasey of MindRiot. It is expected to encompass periods before, during, and after the five-day tragedy.

Keasey, a licensed lawyer turned filmmaker, expressed, “The Titan Tragedy is yet another example of a misinformed and quick-to-pounce system, in this case, our nonstop, 24-7 media cycle that convicts and ruins the lives of so many people without any due process.

“Our film will not only honor all those involved in the submersible tragedy, and their families, but the feature will serve as a vessel that also addresses a more macro concern about the nature of media today.”

He added, “Truth is all that matters. And the world has a right to know the truth, always, not the salacious bait crammed down our throats by those seeking their five minutes of fame. Life is not black and white. It’s complicated. There’s nuance. Always nuance.”

This movie will be part of MindRiot's upcoming slate of docu-series projects, including one about Seattle's underground rap scene currently in development. It marks the first feature film dedicated to the tragedy, with Titanic director James Cameron previously dismissing rumors of his involvement in such a project.
