A home in North Carolina was completely swept away by the ocean as it collapsed dramatically on the beach.

The unoccupied residence, assessed at $381,200 according to Zillow, a real estate marketplace, was featured in the footage moments before the stormy sea toppled the structure.

In the aftermath of the incident, Cape Hatteras National Seashore issued a statement, confirming the collapse of the uninhabited house at 24265 Ocean Drive, Rodanthe, N.C. This marked the second abandoned house to fall into the sea on that particular day at the seashore.

The video showcases the house standing precariously on stilts amid stormy weather, gradually tilting forward before ultimately collapsing into the sea. Debris is strewn across the beach in the aftermath.

The original post surfaced on social media in 2022, but it regained virality when a video was shared on Reddit by an account, leaving viewers stunned by the dramatic footage.

The video prompted people to share their opinions on the collapse across various social media platforms.

One person said: Guys, this is serious. That house was built on a mountaintop 10 years ago! 

A second wrote: Climate change has been happening for centuries!! You build a house near the seafront, you don't expect it to last forever. Especially with salt water and erosion. 

A third commented: Not that I don't have empathy for these people....but at least they haven't lost everything. These are vacation homes. They aren't devastated by it that's for sure.
