Delivery driver sparked outrage over lack of tip
A delivery driver, in a fit of rage, threw a customer's order on the ground after discovering they had not tipped. The entire ordeal was caught on camera.
DoorDash, like many other platforms, allows people to order groceries or takeout.
While it's convenient for customers, delivery drivers often struggle to make ends meet due to low base earnings. In the US, many drivers rely on tips to make up a significant proportion of their income.
Delivery driver throws customer’s order because they didn’t leave a tip
On social media, the driver sparked debate after throwing away the customer's order after finding out that there would not be a tip.
The video shows the driver arriving at the customer's door and asking them: "Are you supposed to pay me?"
A slightly confused customer then says they had 'paid you with the app' to which the driver replies: "It says zero."
After a tense moment of silence, the customer then asks: "Can I have my food?" It was at this point that the driver simply took the food and threw it away before walking off, leaving the customer angry.
The video was shared on social media, quickly went viral, and sparked debate about tipping culture
The video was posted on social media with the caption: "I don't have to leave a tip! End of story." Needless to say, people were less than impressed with the driver's decision to discard the customer's food.
One person said: Tip is earned in my opinion; not a right…I typically give CASH when I meet the driver face to face……
A second wrote: I mean they aren’t providing extra service, even Starbucks baristas remember your name and custom drink and greet you with a smile. Gotta earn it!
While a third commented: Yes she was wrong. Doing orders is voluntary. She saw there was no tip. She could have put it back.
Another added: the tipping thing is getting ridiculous... your commonsense needs to be a factor at some point with people who don't tip. for fuckin real.

Lacey Purcival captured the incident and posted a video on TikTok.
In the video, Corey, a pizza deliveryman, delivered dinner to her residence. However, he used profanity towards her due to the $5 tip she gave him for an order she claimed was only $20.
The woman, stunned by the man's response, exclaimed, 'You're welcome?' and 'F*** you!
“So how much should I be tipping for a $20 pie??” Purcival wrote on the TikTok video.
Below the viral, some users supported their agreement with the $5 tip on a $20 order, stating that it was more than enough.
Someone also advised her to contact DoorDash, the delivery service she used, and file a complaint with them.
She received an explanation that she pays a monthly fee for the delivery service, as well as any additional service fees.
She said that the driver had subsequently been terminated.
A spokesperson from DoorDash confirmed this information in a statement provided to Insider.
