On social media, one such difference has emerged in a viral video where Gen Z has adopted a unique hand gesture to distinguish themselves from Millennials. 

One Tiktok user, @zoii.tsa, shared a video on Tiktok sparking debate by using a simple gesture to differentiate from Millennials.

In the footage, Zoë challenges her café co-workers to form a heart using their fingers.

The majority, using their middle and index fingers, successfully complete the heart in the same manner as Zoë.

However, one staff member stands out by using her index finger and thumb to form her half of the heart, revealing herself to be the group's Millennial.

The video quickly went viral and sparked debate on social media.

The video sparked a flurry of comments from users of both generations.

In the comment selection, many users shared their thoughts with distinct hand gestures. 

While someone else defended the Millennial after Gen Z used a simple gesture to differentiate between two generations,.

However, some Millennials confessed to practicing the Gen Z gesture to blend in with their younger counterparts.

One person said: lol as a Gen x I do not even want to tell you which direction our middle finger gesture was... not as nice as this one.

However, this is not the first time Gen Z has sparked debate about age indicators with Millennials.

On social media, this debate was ignited by a video posted by French TikToker Lili Debois. In the clip, Debois is seen at the gym wearing ankle socks, with the caption reading, "Apparently only millennials wear ankle socks?"

The discussion between the two generations arose when Lili Debois declared that she had retired her ankle socks to keep up with Gen Z, adding that she would 'miss' the shorter socks.
