The Clark County commissioners issued a needed ordinance to solve the jam on pedestrian bridges along the bustling Las Vegas Strip in November last year.
The introduction of this ordinance was driven by a collective intention to ensure smooth pedestrian flow and enhance public safety in the area.
Recognizing the importance of this initiative, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Undersheriff, Andy Walsh, has openly praised and supported the measure.
“For some time, we have been concerned about crowd crush with the events on Las Vegas Boulevard," Walsh said.
"What we see is when the pedestrian bridges get packed, it's difficult for officers to get on those bridges and maintain order."
Individuals who disregard the ordinance and come to a halt in these designated areas may be subjected to penalties of up to a $1,000 fine or a maximum of six months imprisonment.
Furthermore, the implementation of this ordinance will impact not only regular pedestrians but also Las Vegas street performers, who will be prohibited from stopping on pedestrian bridges.
However, these performers will still be permitted to showcase their talents on the streets below, ensuring they can continue their artistic expressions within the confines of the new regulations.
