Posted on the widely followed Instagram page @Sarcasm_only, which has some 16 million followers, the footage captured a young child, likely around five or six years old, on an overnight flight.

The six-second clip shows a crowded cabin with the lights turned off so that people can rest.  However, the child in a LIGHT-UP costume keeps the plane awake in the dark.

The video has the caption: 'Imagine being on this flight...I'd be ill.'

Instagram users worldwide openly expressed their criticism of the behavior in the video.

Commenters didn't hesitate to express their frustration with 'selfish' parents when traveling with children.

The footage showed some passengers sitting in rows behind the child and her father, lowering their heads in an effort to sleep or watching with perplexed expressions as the girl wore a glow-in-the-dark costume.

The camera focuses on the child, capturing her self-satisfied smile as her white bunny costume flashes busy strobe-like lights around the cabin, creating an effect akin to strobe lights that fill a substantial portion of the airplane.

One person said: Why are people today devoid of fundamental consideration of others? It's a toxic blindness and very sad to see.

A  second wrote:  The irony is, that parents can never understand why there would be a demand for this. All you have to do is look at the behavior of children everywhere to see why, the example in this video being point in case. The most entitled groups in society today are families with kids.

A third commented: You'll never see French parents behaving like that. Or Europeans like the Belgians, the Swiss, the Germans, etc... Never... It is always Anglos who are completely I n s a ne or rude, then call others "rude". How is it even possible that no one punched that father in the face? Anglo people no longer know how to behave in public.

Someone else said: They are, all passengers on board, paid for their tickets and those parents should have had the decency to have thought of them. What would parents of done if people sitting behind had kept banging chairs the whole flight? The trouble with the world nowadays.

Another commented: All the people on here forget that they were kids once upon a time. People moan if kids are playing in the gardens, people moan at kids being in the park, and people moan at kids being on planes. This is what is wrong in the world. If I work my ass off, I will be taking all my kids on a plane on holiday! Screaming or not screaming! Yes, the light costume shouldn't have been permitted on the flight and the parent is an ass for doing it but people need to get over this. There are much worse things going on in the world.

Nothing wrong with doing this in the privacy of your own home but NOT in a public area where the lights are intentionally dimmed. What if a passenger sitting nearby was epileptic? Not the kid's fault at all, obviously, but the parents really should know better. Another added.
