A simulated video of the asteroid Eros, describing its huge size and what it would be like if Eros crashed straight into Earth.

A video on Reddit describes the potential impact of an asteroid on New York City, with the asteroid causing a devastating impact. The footage, shared on November 10, has been upvoted over 10,000 times, with commenters expressing the potential danger of the asteroid.

"Imagine the Earth's crust turning into liquid, and the entire world being engulfed in lava," one user wrote.

"The size of this object is uncertain, but it is highly unlikely that it could cause global surface liquefaction, as the atmosphere would likely turn into an oven," another added.

"It's really kind of scary if it comes near to our Earth.  I can't imagine what humans gonna be if Eros hits our head someday. Just remember, this is bigger than what killed the dinosaurs, and the planet took eons to recover," someone commented.

"Just for entertainment. We all know that we can not live long enough to witness that Eros asteroid comes to see us, right?" another replied.

Eros, the second-largest near-Earth asteroid, is influenced by the gravitational attraction of nearby planets, bringing it into Earth's vicinity.

According to experts, this asteroid is twice the size of Manhattan Island in a simulation video. It is larger than the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, which was around 10-15 km wide.

The Eros asteroid is significantly larger than its size, measuring 33 km wide, 13 km across, and 13 km deep.

In fact, Near-Earth asteroid actually tends to get 22 million km away from our planet, indicating a 5% chance of hitting the planet.

However, a hypothetical collision with Eros is expected to occur 1.14 million years in the future, according to a 1996 study by the University of Pisa.

NASA is working on a defense system to protect us from killer asteroids, and if Eros does hit Earth, it is expected that we will have a clear plan for its future.
