The recent strategic move by McDonald's is a response to various economic pressures that have resulted in increased menu prices, impacting customer retention.

Previously, McDonald's faced criticism for raising menu prices.

In recent years, McDonald's  has faced significant cost increases due to various global factors. McDonald's has also faced shortages in other key ingredients for its food.

External factors, such as increasing fuel costs,, have also contributed to the overall price increase.

Consequently, McDonald's has had to raise its prices, leading low-income customers, who might have otherwise dined there, to opt for home-cooked meals instead.

However, McDonald's left viewers stunned after the new meal deal.

McDonald's has announced a new meal deal targeted at bringing lower-income customers back through its doors.

The new combo meal, priced at $5, will include either a McDouble or McChicken Sandwich, small fries, a small soft drink, and a four-piece chicken nuggets.

According to McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski, providing value to all income cohorts is crucial.

In a recent earnings call, he emphasized the importance of recognizing that customers from all economic backgrounds are seeking value.

McDonald’s spokesperson also highlighted this sentiment, stating that offering meaningful value has been a core part of McDonald’s strategy since its inception.

McDonald's USA echoed this sentiment in a statement, saying, "We know how much it means to our customers when McDonald’s offers meaningful value and communicates it through national advertising. That’s been true since our very beginning and never more important than it is today.”

McDonald's is not the only company affected by this trend.

Many customers from lower-income brackets are reportedly moving away from global restaurant chains due to the rising cost of living, opting instead to eat more at home as a way to save money.
