Restaurant owners Able Martinez and Jayme Cousins cited 'labor laws' as limiting what they could disclose but asserted that Boyd's termination was unrelated to the $10,000 tip.

They also mentioned that "she shared the tip at the request of the man that left it", and the company clarified that Boyd lost her job due to labor laws and to protect the staff involved."
After the incident, Boyd was requested to take a mental health day as 'drama' unfolded inside the restaurant due to the tip.
In the Facebook post, she wrote: "Drama ensued, and in an attempt to diffuse the situation and resolve any rumors, things became even worse."
Boyd was supposed to not detail the incident and then removed the post along with her entire Facebook page. Rumors have circulated, suggesting that staff who were not working that day expected a share of the tip
