The restaurant has sparked debate after a waitress was fired for receiving a $10,000 tip on a modest $32.43 bill.

A Michigan waitress was fired after a surprising $10,000 tip on a modest $32.43 bill. However, the restaurant claimed that her dismissal was a 'business decision' and unrelated to the generous gratuity.

The incident occurred in Michigan. A waitress named Linsey Boyd,  who received the remarkable tip, was let go from her position at the Mason Jar Cafe in Benton Harbor despite generously sharing the money with eight other coworkers.

When an anonymous customer left behind a $10,000 tip to honor a departed friend,. The middle-aged man, clad in a dark suit, wished to remain anonymous but explained he was in town for a funeral and wanted to spread some cheer through the generous gesture, as reported by the Detroit Free Press.

Boyd recounted the encounter, stating, 'I just gave him a hug. I didn't even know his name at that point, but I gave him a hug. He then told me he left her a memorial of someone very dear to him and he wanted to do something kind and generous in her name', to WSBT.

A waitress was fired after receiving a $10,000 tip on a modest $32.43 bill.

However, what began as a heartwarming tale took a negative turn, as Boyd revealed in a now-deleted Facebook post that she lost her job due to 'drama, animosity, and hurt' stemming from the massive tip.

Restaurant owners Able Martinez and Jayme Cousins cited 'labor laws' as limiting what they could disclose but asserted that Boyd's termination was unrelated to the $10,000 tip.

In the Facebook post, the restaurant stated that Boyd's termination was unrelated to the tip. They claimed that she did not pay taxes on the money received by the business. They also mentioned that "she shared the tip at the request of the man that left it", and the company clarified that Boyd lost her job due to labor laws and to protect the staff involved."

After the incident, Boyd was requested to take a mental health day as 'drama' unfolded inside the restaurant due to the tip.

In the Facebook post, she wrote: "Drama ensued, and in an attempt to diffuse the situation and resolve any rumors, things became even worse." 

Boyd was supposed to not detail the incident and then removed the post along with her entire Facebook page. Rumors have circulated, suggesting that staff who were not working that day expected a share of the tip
