In the interview with FEMAIL, a couple from Australia, with a 32-year age gap, shared their story of how they met and addressed the criticisms and inquiries from strangers who question their relationship.
Scarlet, 24, and Scott, 56, have been in a relationship for nearly four years. Prior to meeting Scarlet, Scott was going through a divorce.
In a TikTok video, he revealed initially turned to 'sugar daddy' websites but unexpectedly found love with Scarlet instead.
Although they have been dating for four years, the couple admits that they're not perfect, but they are a perfect match for each other.
"I have never been in this for any financial gain. It's always been about support, mentoring, company, unconditional friendship, and true feelings," Scarlet explained.
Their love helps them through tough times and mental health struggles.
Scarlet explained that when one of them faced struggling with overwhelming loneliness, which triggered anxieties, they supported each other through their respective struggles.
"Scarlet has a massive heart and is very empathetic, so we started talking," Scott said.
The couple openly discusses their relationship on the TikTok platform, through their account @agegap5ever.
They also shared videos, showed spread joy and positivity, rather than engaging with negative comments from social media.
Additionally, the couple also denied being related, 'we just try to laugh it off,' Scarlet told FEMAIL.'
Despite criticism regarding their age gap, Scarlet dismissed such judgments as 'ridiculous'. Scarlet claimed that their shared interests and values transcend age differences
'We do we talk about a long happy future together all the time - we aren't perfect but we are perfect together,' Scarlet said.
'We want to help people share a bit of joy, love and give other people the same as us. We hope each time we go live [on TikTok] we want just one person to feel better about themselves,' Scarlet said.
